SYNOPSIS OF RICHMOND MEETING BOARD
ACTIONS New Board Member Terms. The elections of Steve Hosch for Western WA, Stuart Iedema for Eastern WA, David Schmidt for Vancouver, B.C., and Tom Hansen for Seattle, for three year terms (2004-2006) were certified. Financial Status of the District. Treasurer Clay Gerstenberger reported that all financial information is not available for the Puget Sound 2004 and Wenatchee 2004 Regionals and that expected losses for Puget Sound will be whatever playing space costs are negotiated to be (may be as much as $20,000) and loss from Wenatchee will approximate $2,000. District Charity. The 2004 District Charity week is established as October 24-30, 2004, with the District-wide hand records to be Wednesday night, October 27. David Schmidt, Charity Chairman, will send District clubs a letter. Possible Changes in Stratification Rules. The Board favors a proposal which will be made at the Reno NABC Board meeting which would base stratification on a pair’s average combined masterpoints or an average of a team’s highest 4 master point holders. Future Northwest NABC. Seattle has been awarded the Fall 2011 NABC. GNT Subsidy Increase. The subsidy to GNT teams representing the District at the NABC summer finals is increased from $600 to $1400 per team. New District Appellate Chair. Gay Parrish replaces David Schmidt as the District Appellate Chair. Pro Bridge Event at Penticton. A Pro Bridge event will be run two morning sessions at the Penticton 2004 Regional. Regional Entry Fees. The Board took no action regarding raising Regional entry fees at this time due to the District’s healthy financial condition. Qualified Support of an Extra CBF Regional. The District Board will support an extra quota CBF regional in the District when the regional is not within 9 months of District regional within the same metropolitan area. District Board Changes. Paul Harding’s resignation as a representative for Eastern Washington was accepted, as he no longer resides in that area. Kris Motoyoshi, Spokane, was elected to fulfill the unexpired term. The Board position for BC at large was declared vacant due to that Board member having missed two consecutive meetings. Margaret Pearce was elected to fulfill the unexpired term. Four-Day Wenatchee Regional Reviewed. The Board discussed the viability of another four-day regional in Eastern WA but will wait for recommendations from the Tournament Oversight Committee. |
