O'Reilly,
Martin Gerard (Curly)
July
21, 1952 - June 16, 2004
Rule
# 3 - "If it ain't chocolate, it ain't dessert" according
to the late Martin O'Reilly who passed away suddenly last Wednesday
while running in the UBC Endowment Lands. He will be sadly missed
by his wife of 20 years, Susan Peters, siblings, Pat, Maureen, Peter,
Win, Tim, Mike and Barb and their families as well as his dear friends
Gayle and Gerry, Peter, Julie and goddaughter Katie Ann, Stephen,
and Bernie and Tracey. He will be remembered fondly by many of his
colleagues and students from Kitsilano high school where he taught
for the past 15 years. He also shared many good times with the running
group from the Bonsor Community Centre where he was a Sun Run leader
and competed in two half marathons. He also enjoyed the time he shared
as part of the FOYP's of Yellow Point Lodge. His love of duplicate
bridge was responsible for initiating his relationship with his wife
Susan and while less active in the bridge community in the last few
years, he established many life long friends as a result of his association
with this fascinating game.
Martin
was a grand presence whose heart was too big for his body. He loved
life to the fullest and his goal was to make people laugh either at
him or themselves with his unique sense of humor. He was one of the
"good ones" who left us far too soon.
A celebration
of his life will be held on Tuesday, June 22 between 1:00 pm and 4:00
pm at Cecil Green House at UBC. No black attire please. In lieu of
flowers please make donations to the Crossroads Hopice in Coquitlam.
