The District Election Process

District 19 of the American Contract Bridge League, often referred to as DINO, has 12 elected board members who make policies and conduct the business of the District.

Unit Boards of Directors elect all 12 as follows:

All Western Washington Unit Boards except the Seattle Unit Board elect two at large from Western Washington.

All Eastern Washington Unit Boards elect two at large from Eastern Washington.

One is elected at large from Vancouver Island by the two unit boards on the island.

British Columbia unit boards, excluding the Vancouver B.C. Unit and the two units of Vancouver Island, elect one at large.

The Vancouver B.C. Unit Board elects two.

The Seattle Unit Board elects two.

The Alaska unit boards elect one at large.

And lastly all unit boards vote for the District representative to the National Board who by District By Laws is a voting member of the District Board.

Terms of office are three calendar years with approximately one third elected annually.

During this last fall the following were elected for the 2007-2009 calendar years:
Stuart Iedema – Eastern Washington at Large
Stephen Hosch – Western Washington at Large
David Schmidt – Vancouver B.C. Unit
Tom Hansen – Seattle Unit
