DISTRICT 19 PRESIDENT
Tom Hansen

As your new president of District 19, I would like to welcome you to the Vancouver Regional being held in Surrey, the tenth largest city in Canada and the second largest in British Columbia. For easier navigation, Avenues in Surrey run east/west with Streets running north/south. I look forward to being your president and invite members that have any concerns, questions, or comments to come talk to me or any of our outstanding board members. As you know, Donald Mamula is our National ACBL representative. We thank Gay Parrish for her service as president for the past two years.

District 19 (DINO) is the governing body for our region and includes Alaska, Washington and British Columbia and comprises 24 individual Units. Our smaller units have as few as 24 members and our largest two units are the Seattle and Vancouver Units, with each over 1000 members. We hold 4 Regionals every year and try to spread them out among our geographical area. The most recent Regional in Kennewick was a great success with a nice playing site and good attendance. Our 4 Regionals this year will be in Surrey (Jan 7-13), Penticton (June 9-15), Nanaimo (Oct 13-19), and Lynnwood (Aug 18-24).

To the newcomers and players with less than 200 points we would like to invite you to the I/N reception to meet and converse with the various board and goodwill members. This is the perfect opportunity to meet others and feel a part of a group that all have bridge and the future of bridge as their interest. You will meet friendly and helpful volunteers that help to make bridge fun, social and competitive.

Welcome to our new board member, Carol Holcombe, Anchorage, AK, representing Units 425,426 and 427; and many thanks to David Morrone who ably held that position for 6 years.

I look forward to visiting with you and hope that you have a successful tournament. Remember to be respectful and courteous to your partner, opponents, and our staff.
