Richmond January 2002

This is the first time I have the privilege of addressing you as the President of District 19. I would like to thank out-going President Stephen Hosch for all his hard work and dedication over the past two years. Besides being President, Stephen is the NAOP/GNT coordinator and the chairman of the Judiciary Committee.  All Regionals in 2001 were on the plus side of the ledger.  The Board congratulated  Larry Spangler on making a profit in Spokane, where none was expected.

As we start the New Year we have some changes on the Board roster. Clay Gerstenberger, representing Eastern Washington, was appointed to fill the remaining 2 years of Wanda Kellett’s  term. Wanda resigned due to ill health. We are also welcoming back Hubert Hunchak who replaces Margaret Pearce. Hubert represents the BC interior. The Alaska representative is David Morrone.

Our next Regional is Penticton, June 10-16. Thanks to outgoing Board member Margaret Pearce, Penticton will be an annual tournament. Margaret is a dynamo and as Tournament Chairman  hosts the largest District 19 Regional.

The Puget Sound Everett Regional moves to its permanent home in August. The dates this year are August 12-18.

From now on the Eastern Washington Regionals will be in the Fall. The Yakima Regional is October 28-November 3.

This is “YOUR” District and if you have any questions or concerns I hope you will take the time to talk to one of us. In every Gazette there is listing of the Board Members and their e-mail and snail mail addresses.

Remember: “Snowflakes are one of nature’s most fragile things, but just look at what they can do when they stick together!”

Gay Parrish

District 19 President.
