2000 KIRKWOOD TROPHY

Joe Jabon scored 18 more masterpoints than Gard Hays in the Puget Sound Regional in Everett on November 6-12, 2000 to come from behind and win the Kirkwood trophy once again. Gard was the winner of the trophy in 1999. Joe trailed Gard by 5 points after the first 3 regionals.

Each yearDINO awards the Kirkwood Trophy to the person who wins the most masterpoints inthe District 19 regionals.

This year, the District 19 regionals were: Richmond BC in January, Penticton BC in June, Wenatchee WA in September and Everett WA in November. Fifty-eight people won masterpoints at all four tournaments, 200 people won masterpoints in at least three tournaments and 613 people won masterpoints in at least 2 tournaments and 1737 won masterpoints in at least one tournament.
