D19 member Dan Jacob wins first NABC. Detroit, March
2008 :: Dan Jacob, partnered by fellow Canadian Robert Lebi, scored two
60% games in the final sessions of the Silodor Open Pairs to win the event
by less than a board. It was the third NABC title for Lebi, of Toronto,
(the others were the Fast Pairs in 2006 and the Blue Ribbon Pairs in 1989)
but the first for Jacob, of Vancouver. The winners posted a 59.74% score
in the afternoon, and had a 61.59% game in the evening. Their total score
(with carryover) was 2598.74. (Top in the final was 77)

Become a Dino Board Director. Filing Period Deadline
Oct 30. New three-year terms (2008-2010) for the following positions on
the District 19 Board are open for filing.
• Vancouver Island
• British Columbia At Large (excludes Vancouver Island and Vancouver
B.C. Units)
• Alaska
Interested parties may make written declaration for a position where their
membership is to the District Elections
Officer by 30 October 2007. If more than one person per position files,
then an election will be held. Applicants should furnish a short biographical
summary or statement that would be sent to electors if an election becomes
necessary. In case of an election Unit Board members in the affected areas
would be furnished with a written mail ballot.

Congratulations to Tony Kasday of Puyallup WA for winning the 2006 Kirkwood
Trophy for most masterpoints at District Nineteen Regionals.
Tony has attracted a great number of bridge stars to tournaments in the
Pacific Northwest and until he got to Yakima seemed to win just about
every knockout he entered. Tony has had a fantastic year, winning over
400 masterpoints at the four D19 Regionals. As well, he was sitting 7th
overall for ACBL Barry Crane race with 1,662.26 as of Dec 6 and has won
the Emerald Life Master category for D19 by a margin of over 1200 masterpoints.
Four D19 members made it into the top 100 of the ACBL's annual masterpoint
race open category:

Junior Fund Games. Clubs can hold Junior Fund Games during
any sanctioned session in any month except April and September. Players
pay an extra $1.00 per session and can win sectional-rated black points.
