A video Tutorial is Here.
Need: Encourage players without existing partnerships to participate in club and tournament play.
Idea: Create a simple Web Form that allows player to indicate their need for partners at an upcoming tournament event or club.
Benefit: Players establish partnerships through email or phone calls or play on BBO in advance of a tournament and avoid the mad scramble at the venue.
Hint: Remember to hit ENTER to save any changes.
Q: Where do I find the tutorial?
A: In the upper right hand corner of the Partnership Desk Form.
Q: How do I Log in?
A: Fill in your ACBL number and email address and hit the “Login” Button”
Q: Why do I get the message “You are not eligible for Match & Mail”?
A: You have indicated a Master Point range that does not include your latest Master Points from ACBL. Please click on the “MPS” button and select your range.
BE SURE TO HIT ENTER Button to save.
Q: How do I contact a potential partner by email using “Match & Mail” ?
A: You can do this easily but not directly. If you select a potential partner from the pull down menu for an event and hit ENTER, an email will be sent to the potential partner indicating your interest. They will contact you at your email or phone number if they choose to follow up.
Q: Why does my email not show up in the information list of an event?
A: In order to protect your email from spammers we have chosen not to display this in the form. Instead, the system will facilitate the email communication for you using “Match & Mail” . (See above)
Q: Is it possible to request a partnership with someone at a different level?
A: There is nothing that prevents you from requesting a partnership with someone at a different level or vice versa; we just require full disclosure of actual master point level in the request that is sent.
Q: How do I create a schedule for my Tournament or Club?
A: Email firstname.lastname@example.org with your event flyer and you will received a schedule template to fill out.
Q: What do I have to do to run this on my web site?
A: No software is required on the District/Unit/Club web site. Everything runs in the “Cloud” and is accessible by all using browsers that run on PC and Mac platforms. All you need to do is add a link to the either the Partnership Desk Index Page or the Event Specific Partnership Desk eg.Orlando2012
Q: How do I enter an event phoned in by a player without a computer?
A: Your administrator package will explain how you use your administrator password to lookup login information for the player. The Partnership desk administrator will login as the player with their ACBL number and email and enter their pereferences.
Q: How do I see all the events at once on a daily or weekly basis?
A: Your administrator package will explain how you use your administrator password to access an “exploded” version of the Partnership Desk Requests where you can see all of the current requests display all at one time.
