SOUTHEASTERN ALASKA UNIT 427
63 Members
Southeastern Alaska Bridge Unit 427 encompasses just what the name implies:
all of Southeast Alaska. At the present time we have bridge clubs in Haines
(most Northerly club) and Juneau (capital city of Alaska). We also have
ACBL members in Ketchikan but no organized club at the present time.
The Unit sponsors two tournaments a year.
Spring Sectional usually held in April: North to Haines
Sectional, Haines. A spring sectional is held each year in Southeast Alaska.
Most commonly this has been held in Juneau in late April and called the
"Fireweed Sectional," but some years in Haines or Ketchikan.
Our Fall Sectional is traditionally held aboard one
of the State of Alaska ferries. As an example, in 2001 we started in Juneau,
sailed to Skagway, from Skagway to Prince Rupert, British Columbia, and
from Prince Rupert to Juneau via Sitka, thus travelling all of the Inside
Passage of Southeast Alaska. More info will be posted when available
BRIDGE IN ALASKA
The state of Alaska has a total of one regional and five sectionals
per year, and bridge clubs are active in six cities. There are three bridge
units, Anchorage Unit 425, Southeastern Alaska Unit 427 and Farthest North
Unit 426.
