SEATTLE UNIT 446

1,244 Members

Seattle Unit 446 covers the greater Seattle neighborhood, essentially King County.  We run 4 Sectional tournaments per year: Sweetheart Sectional in February, Knockout Sectional in May, Suntan Sectional in August, and Autumn Sectional in either October or November.  We sponsor an annual district-wide Sectional Tournament at Clubs event (STAC) near the end of March, and we also host a yearly team event called the Round Robin.  Our monthly unit games are normally held on the first Sunday evening of the month. Our publication, the Seattle Unit Newsletter (SUN), contains board news, club news, tournament information and results, club calendars, rank advancements, and other useful content aimed at keeping our membership informed.  We print 6 copies per year and mail to all ACBL members within our unit.

There are two trophies to be claimed annually by the person winning the most masterpoints in our 4 Sectional tournaments (STAC points and Round Robin points are excluded from the calculation).  The Microsoft Award (formerly the Weisfield Trophy through 1999) is awarded to the player winning the most points from all events in the Sweetheart, Knockout, Suntan, and Autumn sectionals.  The recipient gets to display the permanent award for a year, and is awarded a gift to be kept.  The Jabon Trophy is awarded to the person starting the year with fewer than 20 masterpoints, who accumulates the most points in our 4 sectional tournaments.
