2026-2027 D19 NAP Conditions of Contest
D19 2027 NAPs CoCAbout the North American Pairs
The North American Pairs (NAP) is a set of annual North American championships for pairs contested over two days at the spring American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) North American Bridge Championships (NABC). The events are restricted to pairs that have qualified through local, regional and district levels within their ACBL Districts.
Four fields or “Flights” compete at the NABC, on semi-overlapping schedules:
- Championship, open to all players, formally titled the Baldwin North American Pairs;
- Flight A, restricted to players with 0 to 6000 masterpoints, formally titled the Jan Martel North American Pairs;
- Flight B, restricted to players with 0 to 3000 masterpoints, formally titled the Golder North American Pairs; and
- Flight C, restricted to players who have not yet become Life Masters and have fewer than 750 masterpoints, formally titled the President’s Cup North American Pairs.
Each competition is a four-session matchpoint pairs tournament with two qualifying sessions on the first day and two final sessions on the second. You can view the full conditions of contest of the NAPs on the ACBL’s website.
Rough Schedule
Club qualifiers are held at local clubs in the summer (June, July, and August) of the year prior to the NABC. District qualifiers are held in the fall or winter (September through January) of the year prior to the NABC. National finals are held at the Spring NABC.
In District 19, we generally hold the finals in November of the year prior to the NABC. Dates and location are announced in late summer or early fall.
